First Restaurant Outing

Following on the success of Charlie's visit to Wolffer vineyards last weekend, on Monday night Charlie had his first proper restaurant outing, accompanying us to Town Line BBQ, a local favorite spot.

Charlie was great - and very graciously shared the table with giant plates of brisket and pulled pork. Given his good attitude, it will be no time at all before Charlie is forced to join his parents on their crazy culinary outings to far flung Queens where none of us will recognize the food!

Charlie is loving this holiday week, and appears to find life in Bridgehampton to be very agreeable. A few highlights from the weekend...

'Tis the Season, Unseasonably

We think Charlie may be getting the wrong impression of the holiday season. First there was family Hanukkah with latkes eaten in short sleeves out on the deck in Woods Hole - and now we're on to Christmas in Bridgehampton with daffodils pushing up through the dirt and mom & dad (and dog) running barefoot around the yard. With all the joggers out in shorts and swimmers braving the waves at the beach, you could squint your eyes and imagine it was Christmas in July!

With seasonal confusion outside, we've been doing our best to keep up the holiday traditions inside - focusing on the food, of course.

More New Friends!

Charlie continues to enjoy visits from many new friends, the latest batch coming from New Jersey, Boston, DC, and the West Coast to meet the little guy.  Uncle Jon, up from DC, even brought Charlie wishes from the President!  Not too bad for a boy who is not yet 6 weeks old.

Next up on the acclaimed reality TV show MTV Cribs, Charlie Olken - in his own crib!

Huge assembly success by Josh, who completed the task with limited cursing and even more limited help from EB, who "supervised" (aka watched and did nothing).

5th Week Wrap-Up

Charlie's 5 week birthday and following weekend continued to be filled with notable milestones.  These included:

First park walk in the rain (EB forgot the rain shield so the sun blocker aka daft punk mask style cover served as a good replacement.)

Charlie was undeterred by the bad weather, especially given the joy that coming home entailed, as it allowed for a fashion show in his new moose outfit courtesy of his San Francisco buddy Jamie Grimm.

Charlie enjoyed a walking tour of Harlem and Morningside Heights on Friday in gathering some treats for his Uncle James before he starts at Columbia, including his first visit to Levain Bakery.  While Charlie currently weighs probably the same as three of their giant cookies and so isn't quite ready for his first dark chocolate peanut butter, he was pleased to know that Levain has locations in Harlem, the Upper West Side, and Wainscott, all places Charlie will soon know well.

Charlie is also getting much better at focusing and is loving his Mr. Whoozit.

Eager to show off how mature he is, this week Charlie enjoyed his first time apart from his already overbearing mother, spending time with Grandma Barbara (name still TBD) and Nick on Saturday evening so EB and Josh could head out to a couple of holiday parties, including the famed annual Santa Bump.  Charlie had a great time!

On Sunday, Charlie had a lovely Christmas luncheon with his Grandpa Brian and Uncle James, missing Uncle Dan who was off gallivanting in Mexico.
